The already-established full-line food and non-food supplier and supply chain solution partner, Piri Reis Ship Supply, has finished the month of February 2019 ‘CSR-strong’. Wanting to cement their commitment to embracing a sustainable practice, the company has joined IMPA ACT as a supplier member. Despite not having partnered yet, Piri Reis Ship Supply wanted to start their journey towards a sustainable supply chain management and become more aware about the impacts that the company and its suppliers have on the economy, human rights and the environment. On behalf of IMPA, we would like to wish Piri Reis a warm welcome and thank the company for supporting the industry’s preferred initiative for responsible supply chain management.
Sercan Kacar, General Manager at Piri Reis, said:
“We have heard about IMPA’s CSR initiative for the shipping industry and their Supplier Code of Conduct – we wanted to join because we had been interested for a long while in adopting the same requirements at our organisation. Piri Reis wants to be and be known as a responsible supplier, and we will work towards achieving that from now on.”
Jasmine Schestak, IMPA Senior Project Manager, said:
“It is empowering to see that more and more marine suppliers are broadening their business focus to include social and environmental considerations, not only financial ones. It’s always good news to welcome an important supplier in one of the world’s key maritime hubs.”
